Follow the B4436 up hill (Mayals Road). Across common. Pass sign for BISHOPSTON on the left. Pass Petrol Station on your right. Carry straight on. Go down a hill. After a bend, the road then starts to go up hill once more. You will see a sign "Kittle". Start indicating left. When the railings finish and you see a 30MPH sign to the left Old Kittle Rd is imminent. Turn sharp left here and down  a hairpin bend . You might not be able to make the turning in one go, so drive up a little onto a drive on the bend to help you complete your turn. This is  "Old Kittle Road". Follow down this leafy lane for 50 yards and  Barlands Cottage is the first house on the left. Turn right into Barlands Cottage car park  which is directly opposite the house. There is space for 3 cars if you park parallel to the road. The entrance to the house is through a gap in the stone wall. All in all, the journey is 11 miles from Junction 42.

Detailed directions with land marks!

Take the M4 to Junction 42 A 483 to Swansea. Continue along this road (which becomes A4067 after you have passed Swansea town). After 4 miles you will pass Sainsbury’s on your left. Keep going straight and do not deviate from this road. You will then pass Tesco’s on your right, followed by The Civic Centre (large concrete building) which is on your left opposite Swansea Prison.  By now you will have the sands of Swansea Bay on your left. Pass St Helen’s Rugby Ground on the right, where in the 60’s  Peter Hain (ex Cabinet Minister), was involved with an invasion on the pitch in an anti apartheid demo, and where Gary Sobers hit six sixes in one over in a 1st class match - a feat which has never been equaled since. Further along Swansea University is on your right. When you see a Shell Garage on your right prepare to get into the right hand lane. Move into right hand lane as soon as possible after The Woodman Pub on your right and Texaco Garage on the left. There is a sign post for  South Gower and Bishopston at the traffic lights (B4436). Turn right here, up steep hill (Mayals Road). At  the top, houses give way to open common. After crossing the common you will pass a sign for BISHOPSTON on your left. Pass petrol station on your right. Continue along the road and then down a hill . After a bend, the road then starts to go up hill once more. You will see a sign" Kittle". Start indicating left. When the railings finish and you see a 30MPH sign to the left and markings on the road, Old Kittle Rd is imminent. Turn sharp left here and down a hair pin bend. You might not be able to make the turning in one go, so drive up a little onto a drive on the bend to help you complete your turn. This is  "Old Kittle Road". Barlands Cottage is the first house on the left at the bottom of the lane. Turn right into our car park which is directly opposite the house. There is space for 3 cars if you park parallel to the road. The entrance to the house is through the gap in the stone wall. Total mileage from Swansea Junction 42 is 11 miles.  GOOD LUCK!
